The Bamboo Island Native American-style flutes have such a sweet and mellow tone for being high-pitched flutes! These flutes are made from bamboo and feature a carved bamboo feather for the block. Each flute is one-of-a-kind with the stone inlay, color and mouthpiece varying. See below for information regarding each flute.

    • This flute is in the key of E (minor pentatonic) and is roughly 14-1/2" in length. 

  • High D
    • This flute is in the key of D (minor pentatonic) and is roughly 15-1/2" in length. 

  • High C
    • This flute is in the key of C (minor pentatonic) and is roughly 16-1/2" in length. 
  • Mid A
    • This flute is in the key of A (minor pentatonic) and is roughly 19" in length
  • Mid G (5-hole only!)
    • This flute is in the key of G (minor pentatonic) and is roughly 19.5" in length

Durable and oh, so Mellow!

I have a high C and the mid G 5-hole flutes from Ray. I have quite a few bamboo flutes in my collection and these are the most stable and mellow playing ones. They seem to be tougher than some of my other bamboo flutes. Ray does a great job of choosing and drying his working stock. I love the cute little carved leaf blocks too. They lay flat and close to the flute, so little chance of damage when traveling or slipping them in/out of a flute bag. If I didn’t already own the higher keys, I would definitely add them to my collection, but then again why not? Just one more!

Island Flute by Ray, Great Addition

Gm 5-hole in Bamboo - I have a dozen or so NAFs already, so this sounded interesting to add to my collection, and glad I did. It's a beautiful efficient design with a creative leaf plate, which draws out a smooth and mellow sound; Getting a 5-hole helps keep me within Native Style playing, and improves alternate fingering practice; It is open-ended at the mouth which introduces a new relaxed jaw position to blowing into the flute (with minimal air), and is quite relaxing to play; The tuning is perfect; It is so cool to see how the abundance of bamboo can be transformed into a wonderful piece of art and function
